What is MailAuth Analyzer? 

The in-platform MailAuth analyzer tool is your personal email header analyzer/message header analyzer that helps you detect, analyze and investigate your email authentication compliances (i.e. DMARC, DKIM, SPF, MTA-STS, and BIMI) through empty test mail sent to an auto-generated email address. 

This message header analyzer tool helps you troubleshoot email issues faster and without any hassle through a quick and accurate analysis of your email message headers. Use the Email Header Analyzer to highlight vulnerabilities in your email’s security posture (e.g. missing or invalid DMARC records, an absent SPF record, syntax error in your DKIM record. etc.) through an instant reporting system. The tool will also highlight any alignment issues.

How to use the Email Header Analyzer tool?

Step 1: Sign in/ Sign up to access your PowerDMARC portal. On the left-hand side menu bar, navigate to and click on “MailAuth Analyzer” under “Analysis Tools”.

Step 2: On the MailAuth Analyzer page, you will find an auto-generated email address, click on the copy button to copy this address to your clipboard.

Step 3: Open your mail account to send a test mail from the domain whose email authentication records you want to analyze. In the “Mail To:” section, paste the auto-generated email address. You can keep the contents of this test mail empty. Press send. 

Step 4: Now head back to the MailAuth analyzer tool on your PowerDMARC portal, and click on the “refresh” button. You will now find instant results generated for your sending domain including your email address, the source IP, DMARC compliance for the email you sent, the Creation date, and additional actions. 

Step 5: Click on the “view” icon under “Actions” to view your detailed instant aggregate report. 

This report will contain your DMARC, SPF, and DKIM compliance results, the published policy and enforcement modes as well as the validity status of your MTA-STS, TLS-RPT, and BIMI records. 

Step 6: Moreover, you can scroll down to the bottom of this page to view your email headers both in the raw format as well as in a parsed human-readable format.
